Not Touching Ground

Clammy Flesh grazes ground
And toes stretch to make purchase
The world turns in rapid revolutions
Opportunities glancing off reaching fingers
Nothing is nailed down in the whirlwind
Feet grow no confident roots
And every minor decision a gauntlet
Of anxiety, fear and procrastinated avoidance
An adult not up for the task
Bumbling and stumbling rather than floating
Barely but definitely up in the air
