I’m Guilty

Happy 50th birthday to my amazing husband. Thank you for allowing me to share many of them with you and I look forward to a whole lot more.

In the sharp aquiline clutches
Under arrest of that enquiring stare
Interrogating what lies beneath
Cuffed by the intrigue of your silence
There was no hope of escape
From what was always meant to be
Sentenced to life with you
Is right where I want to be
Through challenges and joys
We’re cellmates finding our way
Back to each other
At the end of the chain gang
At the end of each trying day
Happy to spend the verdict
In the company of one another
I’m confident of being convicted
Of loving you
