Reason To Smile

These pages of my notebook
Hold pieces of my raw soul
The wounds given wings
By the mere penning of their pain
To release the fester that keeps them open
No solid purchase for healing stitches
In the slushy infected flesh
For the toxins ravage my entire being
Until I excise them onto the page
Bid their replayed torment adieu
And fill the void they leave
With memories that I choose
To be the make up of my life
Recollection that will cause me to smile
When my dying bed approaches
Memories others will enjoy recalling
When my physical body is dead
