We foreshadow the secrets of our minds
Onto the white pages of a book
Little titbits of information scattered like crumbs
Pulling the reader, like Hansel and Gretel
Following the trail that was left
But we as writers hope not to lose the path
To keep the audience hooked, string them along
Perhaps send them on a twisted roller coaster ride
Before delivering them to their door
Exhilarated, satiated, and completely content
For the journey they travelled
The cover they burrowed under
The words that they cuddled up to
And the characters whom they are going to miss
Stole them for those moments
While they focused on that world
