Change that which haunts you

Change that which haunts you

We hold so tightly
Cling for dear life
To that which is past
To our history
Meant to teach us
Not to bind us to it
Do we fear loss of identity?
Mistakes made then
Held against us now
By others or by ourselves
Be the student
Learn and move forward
To graduate this plane
Wiser, free and at peace
If errors in your way haunt
Dispel the ghost by change
Need not wait until tomorrow
For today is the time.

Purpose to Write

Purpose to Write

Write the words that you get given
Though they make no sense to you
While dutifully penning them
Those thoughts that spring to mind
Are divinely sent just for your hand
You are the chosen messenger
Delivery part of your purpose.

Balancing Act

Balancing Act

I walk my path with an uneven gait
Stumbling and falling now and again
Searching for the illusive balance
Finding my centre out on a limb
Diligently working at moving it in
Rising up when found on the floor
Standing when knocked down
Not a short-term destination
But a life change to be made
Learning to live balanced and whole
One step at a time with this in mind
Foregoing that which doesn’t work
Trying new things that just might
Continuous journey of living it up
Smoothing the road as I go by
In hope of not falling right off.

Be Your Best

Be Your Best

What happened to childhood?
Did I misplace it somewhere?
It’s long gone and here I remain.
Pushed to succeed and be the best,
I seem to have lost
The best times of my life.
Working ad infinitum
To be number one,
Nobody taught me
How to be number two.
So now here I stand,
Seeing a failure in the mirror,
Forgetting the successes
I’ve had along the way,
Forgetting all the good times.
Now for the new time
Standing before me,
Learning to shine by just being me.
Accepting that doing my best
Is all I can do and all I can do
Is more than good enough.

Moments

Moments

There are moments in life,
Moments that protect you,
Moments that direct you.
Every moment has meaning,
Every moment is special.
This life doesn’t have
Infinite moments in it.
To capture and keep,
To fill with memories.
Decisions to be made,
Actions to be taken,
Words to be said.
There are moments in life.
Live them all,
Live them well,
For this may be your last moment.

The Want of Better

The Want of Better

On winged prayer I release my manifestation
To float into the ether of the Universe
No more to ponder or to wonder the outcome
Instead to have faith that I shall receive
All that I need to live and flourish
And perhaps some of those things I want.

Is it mistaken, greed or sinful
To want some of the finer things in life?
I think not, because I do not believe
That anybody should live in poverty
Nor should we settle for just enough
We are worthy of so much more.

Stop! I hear you say, my ego is at work with this
I should not speak of such things
But be grateful that I have what I do and move on
My thankfulness is abundant and vocal
And yet I will respectfully disagree
That this is all that I should settle for.

For if man settled for things long ago
Many of our modern day conveniences
Would never have come to be
In perseverance of better things we go forward
And often times backwards too, I have to agree
Still we must try and in better have some belief.
