Another Way

Another Way

When the storm is encroaching
On the path that you had planned
All mapped out life journey
Under the water’s crushing wave
You still have a little road left
To launch a master recovery plan
Never should the tar be your only way
There is more than one option
Wallow not in the depth of grey
But climb into that boat and sail
Right over the tossing seas
To find the calm beyond the squall
To make another route
Before the next ensuing storm.

Find your Tribe

Find your Tribe

Many a true word is spoken in jest
Humour to hide all seriousness
A mask to conceal embarrassment
Too hard, too hard on one’s self
Laughter flakes off the surface
Never coming from any depth
Self-conscious cowering in judgement
And the opinion of all others
Take back, take back your power
Pride filled heart for who you are
Head lifted, eyes searching others
Find the tribe who love YOU.

Look of Love

Look of Love

Passion, spice and romance
Utopian picture of partnership
Sometimes love is lukewarm
Hard work and no fairy tale
Honest and real preferable
To make-believe mirage
Vanishing at slight imperfection
Longevity in trust and truth
Occasional romantic gesture
Holding more from the heart
Than constant fanning flattery
Love looks like you and I.

Trying to guide

Trying to guide

With guiding hand and loving heart
I offer you this life advice
I wish for you a peaceful path
With much ease and tranquillity
I try to teach you this my child
But all you see is that I criticize.

Perhaps I need to learn
To guide a little gentler
Sometimes just to leave you be
To get the lesson on your own
I’m trying not to let you fall
But maybe that is how you grow.
