Where Does It Come From?

Write it in the Almanac,
the depth of the water,
beautiful glow of the moon,
the blowing of the wind,
sun’s sleep, and its waking.
The turning of the earth,
and all that needs to be known,
to plant a good harvest
and feed our families.
As our children play
with polka dot toadstool houses,
dolls, balls, and magical wonderland,
remind them to give thanks,
to the farmers tending the land
where their food comes from,
no origin in a fridge or a store.
Let them learn to care for the soil,
so that Mother Nature
may be well enough
to give us her bounty again and again,
to nourish our bodies
as we go about living
on her beautiful land.
