Keeping the Sea

Officer of the sea
a mermaid I would be
to swim you to safety
away from pillage and plunder
from creatures deep.
To keep them from harms hand
in human and animal understand
unblock the clot of seaweed
in the little boat of fishermen
but clog the nets of greed
killing indiscriminately,
and lasso the spear guns,
redirect the torturous harpoons
to find target in the shooter’s hull,
to preserve Mother Nature’s mystery.
