When times turn and focus shifts
We lose sight of the big picture
When illness strikes or disaster
Like a sniper it is the only thing we see
Pinpoint laser on just that
All else fades away into the background
Looking for the prize of great outcome
Insignificant mountains of yesterday
In the rear-view mirror of perception
Pleas, prayers, negotiating, and begging
Acceptance the last in the line
Peace only follows when this is done
And focus is still hazy for a little while
