I’m not flying solo in this life
Because I am magnificently blessed
With family and friends who love me
A co-pilot who brings out my very best
As we navigate life and parenthood
And enjoy the celebrations of today
Watch our youngest turn a year older
Now further into her teenage years
Eating homemade chocolate cake
Sharing special time with loved ones
Making memories to place in archive
For the years where our beautiful girls
No longer share the roof we live under
Spread their wings and fly to distant places
But always remember our times together
Though alone time is cherished like oxygen
It is never meant to be permanently so
Someone to lean on, or listen to our song
Whether it be upbeat or melancholy
There is another body or more to share
But not just anybody can be in this circle
Only those that lift your energy higher
And bring out the best version of you
No obligations to share your precious space
With those that do not respect it and you
