What Tomorrow Holds

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “new/knew.’” Use one, use both, use them any way you like. Bonus points if you use both. Enjoy!

And just like that the year is done
A beautiful sunset, orange ball of fire disappears
But only for a few hours until it returns
But expectations of a new beginning abound
No one knew what this past year would hold
Save perhaps a few seers who had ideas
The slate is not so clean as the night sky is dark
When we wake tomorrow morn afresh
It is the intention of every single day we must set
In the direction that we plan to head
But with the flexibility of bullrushes and reeds
Bend where the Universe directs you to go
Do not stand rigid like a dried-out twig
For that will snap and break to splinter
Allow to be shown what might be a better path
And if we take life as it comes down the river
We do not need to know what’s waiting
Because we’ll learn to make the best of it
