Can you extract the last drop of blood from a stone?
I feel that you are succeeding in doing it to me
For the life is draining from my face and my body
I can no longer see the point to this futile effort
The ends they will not meet no matter how hard I pull
There is nothing to take from one side to give to the other
They are both lacking their full quota these days
That which I had stowed for such times
Has long since been depleted and I do not see opportunity
For anything that will refill my cup
Which seems to be cracked and leaking all over the place
Life is broken and I don’t have the energy to try and fix it
But when I hear a rare laugh from my children I must concede
I neither have the energy to give up and quit

Painful and sad. Just yesterday I was telling my friend, some people are injurious to our health. If we have the option, we should keep them away from our lives. Well written.
