I Can’t Lie To You

I cannot tell you that I stand in a field of daisies
When in truth I’m stung by nettles and caught on thorns
The pretty words, they will not come to my tongue
I’m sorry if I’m not the ray of warming sunshine
That you too so desperately are in need of
But I’m the one to tell you that you’re not alone
The culture of the lie that all is well is of no assistance
For it never did us very well to hide it from one another
Pretend behind a beautifully designed mask set in place
Create a new vision of more transparency without judging
As this is what will help us out of the quagmire of pain
The only branch to dislodge us from this swamp
And guide us to the healing pastures of joy
