Fresh Coffee?

Fine cracks appear in my porcelain demeanour
Still attempting to hold the perfect pieces together
Expanding the hotter the contents of life gets
Slight irritations become mosquito-swatting events
Until finally I shatter to splintered little bits
My coffee of sanity staining the snow-white floor tiles
Shards swimming in the murky brown pools of surrender
Growing much larger with big salty drops of defeat
I need to decide…
To remain in the swamp of disillusion and loss, sinking
To rise, sweep away the messy debris of collapse
Mop my brow and the cold dirty floor
Caffeinate a new cup with authenticity and honesty
To the world and to myself
And begin again, sip by sip
