Hanging Bluebells and Hearts

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “a picture from wherever.” When you sit down to write your post, find a picture, whether in a magazine, newspaper, or even product packaging. Write whatever thought or emotion the picture provokes. Enjoy!

The blue flowers and bluebells adorn the white box
Like the tears that the tissues inside catch
They fall from the vine-like tendrils curling to a heart
These salty drops sprung like a geyser from my emotions
Memories, heartbreaks, and beautiful births
Movies that pulled me in and made me feel for their people
Truth and reality versus fiction, imagination, and fantasy
Sometimes a blessed escape into an ideal life belonging to others
But coming back with gratitude, inspiration, or motivation
The heart squeezed, leaked, feather-light fingers tickled
Woken and given hope, dashed against the rocks
And put together again
Reaching for the hankies
Soft white comfort in a box
Whispering against my cheek
And one day my own hero wiped them away
Sometimes they return and the bluebells hang low
But once they’re watered, they stand up again
And so do I
