World Got Me Down

Frowzy mirrored me
Why do you reflect me as such?
What has happened to the sparkle?
When did the shine fade?
Who stole the glint from my eyes
And how do I get it back again?
Made blunt by the weight of the world
Humanities unbelievable behaviour
In this extremely sensitive soul
Too many gaping gasps of horror
At audacities and attitudes
Shocking to this gentle empath
They steal my belief in people
Care and consideration for your fellow man
There is no single label per se
That marks these hopeless deeds
I am trying so hard to understand and excuse
All I ask of you
PLEASE
Restore my faith in humanity
By how we treat one another
And simply consider each other
In our speech, manner, and deed
Especially the decision makers
The ones granted the destructive powers
Let them rather build our earth beautiful
As I would love to believe
