Maybe You Shouldn’t Tell Me

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “too/to/two.” Use one, use ’em all, bonus points if you use all three. Extra bonus points if you start your post with one. Enjoy!

To exist in this day and age
Attempt to be all that you can be
Find your potential and follow your purpose
All these amazing ideologies that fade away
When life becomes real and all too challenging
One obstacle to learn to hurdle – not too difficult
Then comes two at a time and the juggling begins
I’ve lost count where I’m at right now
They just seem to keep coming and coming
The bearers of bad news bowing their embarrassed heads
Not understanding how they can add just one more
And your spine doesn’t break, and the earth doesn’t crack
Almost fearful of the teetering balancing act
That they now need to contribute to
It isn’t their fault
They didn’t create the circumstance
They’re just telling you what you need to know
But I think that we’ve gotten to the point
The fragile edge into the overwhelming chasm
That we are seriously considering
If we want you to tell us any more
We might be better off not knowing
The ostrich with their head in the sand
Those hippies in their happy bubbles of bliss
Unconscious to the world happenings
Perhaps we’ll take a leaf from their book
Or the whole damn thing
Maybe we’ll fall into the drugged haze
Just to cope
But we’re going to wake tomorrow
And it’s still going to be there
As a world we need to come together
Unite
And find solutions to this faecal show
That is threatening to drown us
