Remembering How to Breathe

Life is a distorted song of waiting
For the noise of the next catastrophe
While wrestling the mind to calm
With the knowledge of the existing
Psychedelic blending of darkness
Painted in the loudest colours
The most stressed adrenalin high
From drugs we never ever took
Without a decent pleasant effect either
Instead another deep breath
That feels like swallowing water
From the deluge pounding into our chest
Crushing any sense of hope or possibility
Beneath the pressure of this world
So forgive me while I switch off for a little while
Shut out the technicoloured bombardment
And remember how to breathe
