End of the Rain

In the deluge of facts, warnings, and threats
We seek to lay claim to any miniscule crumbs
Of the slightest possibility of hope
In the most muted of shades
We will employ the most powerful searchlight
In the arsenal of our brains
To find or create these beacons in the storm
Of life and reality that is constantly tossed at us
While we try our best to stay afloat
Hopeful that the downpour will soon stop
The sun will shine and the brightest rainbow
Will reward our courage and fortitude
By revealing its most sacred prize
And we will no longer
Be trying to breathe under water
But will suck deeply into our lungs
All that we have and all that we are
With a renewed gratitude and a belief for good
