Two Hearts

When the heart of a little girl breaks
So too does that of a mother
No matter how young or old she is
Her tears may fall on the outside
But mom tries to keep hers in
To be the strong shoulder to lean on
When people’s true colours show
Or their simple lack of consideration
Strikes at a soft and vulnerable core
No matter the number of solar rotations
Mama bear will always come out
To protect her cubs from cruelty in the world
Even when she knows
Some lessons are necessary
