The perpetuity of the heart
Is a much debated topic
For when it breaks
Does it still function?
Does it beat ever loud in your chest?
Can the scars be erased?
Or just plastered over
But never the less
The journey that it travels
Lasts only this lifetime
Its beats are numbered
And we never know the count
But the soul
Ah there is another thing entirely
For it outlasts today
And your life here on earth
But that my darling dears
Is a topic for another

The beats are indeed numbered. And you’re right: the soul (if it actually exists) is another story altogether.
Fine work, this one.
