Being Bits of You

It reminds me of you
The things that I do
Catching glimpses of my heritage
From your maternal parentage
The words that whisper past my lips
Like little psychedelic mushroom trips
Where you’re still very much alive
This dreamy magic to revive
Floating in the air
Existing absolutely everywhere
In mirrors, mannerisms and mechanisms
Even down to my harsh criticisms
I see your good and bad reflection
In all of my vivid recollection
Like my daughters whom you never knew
I see their repugnant traits too
Those that are mine from my very own being
Looking glass of the world I’ll keep on seeing
Until I come to terms and acceptance of me
I will always notice the lingering debris
Vestiges of little girls slipping away
Will they remember me thus one day
With a pleasant, fond smile of realization
That I live on in their daily idiosyncratic animation
Will they be at all happy to be slightly like me?
