Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “where.” Use it any way you’d like!

Where has the time gone I ask you?
What have we done with it in these years?
The story of success or failure
In the eyes of those that see us
Pass the eons of our lives by
But the view tainted often
By their pride or disappointment
In their own accomplishment of days gone by
And in this society of constant comparison
Taught from the minutes and hours
Seconded to school desks and being told
Your worth lies in your performance
Not by your yesterdays or before
But by your fellow scholastic attendees
By who won, who lost
And what title you bear
But what if I told you that doesn’t matter
What if I told you where you are at
Can be changed and altered
In your very next breath
And what if I said that at the end of this all
It is only the number of moments of joy
Those of your very own life
It is the time that you spent being happy
That make any difference at all
So instead of looking next door
At the car that they drive
Or the house that they own
Perhaps we each need to look deep inside
And find what beautiful things
Make us gloriously and truly smile
And do more of that
And make sure to spread the happiness
For imagine a world where joy
Is the natural thing
