Society of comparison
Not of ourselves
Against ourselves
To measure growth
But as adversary to others
We begin the battle
At the youngest age
To curb curiosity
Mistakenly translated
As naughty behaviour
Promoting shame
Of differing from accepted
We do not filter our fields
Every aspect of life
Paralleled to another
Where out of the box
Is discouraged among children
But expected in adults
Our individual nuances
Buried with fossils
But not valued alike
Until we can prove their worth
Of unique individuality
And each being enough
In the standing of their own
In the comparable image
Changing for better
In the silver
Of the all-telling mirror
