Nagging Parenting

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “color/colour.” Use it as a noun, a verb, or pick a color and write about it–use it any way you like. Have fun!

How to do the parent thing?
To get it right to adulthood
That they may thrive
And find success for their own
Integrate into society
As functional and fully fledged
To hold back the colour of rage
The red tomato face that sprouts
When tasks have once again
Been completely neglected and ignored
How do you remind with kind?
That nagging is not your normal tone
That eyes do not roll in heads
And tongues do not click in mouths
That you are not the evil witch
Awaiting a broom stick to leave on
For if you were, you’d cast a spell
That one request was all you needed
No repeats nor multiple necessary
The colour of regurgitation green
Sick in the turn and churn of stomach
At the daggers that are stared
How to do this parent thing?
To come out with a reasonable
Relationship in the not so bitter end
