My heart has many strings
Some pull apart to break it open
Tear wounds deeply in its fabric
By injustice, cruelty, unspeakable
And sheer unbelievable things
Then the other tethers strap together
Tightly wrapping me in love
At the beauty of humanity
The yang to the yin illuminated
In the lit warmth of eternal hope
That rises from the scars of yesterday
To sedate the brutal tug-o-war battle
Between fear, anxiety and overwhelm
That a normal pulse may return
Calm, at peace and bound in unity
