As we dress for the dawning of each day
We choose
Whether to put on the labels they have given us
To wear them with pride or with disdain
We choose
For approval to inveigle us to abandonment
The sacrifice of our identity to acceptance
We choose
To later lament the years that will pass
Having ignored the gossamer flap of our soul
Unless…
We choose
To discard their opinions on the floor
And instead adorn our self with our own
Show them with pride the choice we are making
Happiness in being true to who we are
In meeting the world with no mask and no façade
