It’s About Using Your Heart

I hide within the folds of baggy trousers
The excess fabric of my own devices
Tripping me up along this path of life
While I conceal my perceived faults and sins
Too scared to reveal my authentic self
Judgement at the forefront of my expectation
Creates the lure of isolation and separation
To avoid the pain of words of failure
I’ll drown in these self-imposed drapes of mine
Unless I rise above my fears and trepidations
Take the world at the value of its face
And let it take me at my own
For my worth is not within the eyes of others
But within the heart I share with them

  1. Another wonderful poem Debbie. My favourite lines
“I’ll drown in these self-imposed drapes of mine
Unless I rise above my fears and trepidations
Take the world at the value of its face
And let it take me at my own”
Thanks for joining in 🙂 🙂
