Okay to Not be Alright

Not every day that we wake
Does the light of the morning sun
Feel warm and comforting on our flesh
For some are days that burn within
Of pain and anguish soaked and drowned
On days like these, dripping from the pores
Melancholy, sadness, hopelessness and despair
Dressed in false and vibrant outer cheer
That nought may know our turmoil so
But all is well with this dreary status
We’ll remain anonymous in the world
Until we find the gleaming pearl of smile
The authentic one that comes from the deep
We’re within our power well and true
To take a rest from being good and great
To feel the feels and work through our thoughts
To understand what gets us there
Back to the state of joy and laughter
What makes us happy at our soul
We’ll find the key once more
Just as soon as we’ve done our rest
From the search and seizing
Of truly being alright once more
