Of Earth

Mother Earth flows through my veins
Like the roots of the trees
Her rivers and their tributaries
And when I should forget her influence
Imprison myself indoors against the sun
I emerge a washed-out soul
In search of the source of serenity
Her symphony of water, birds and bees
The whisper of the breeze
Clarity of her life-giving air
And the warm gentle kiss of her daylight
Hope and dreams shining from her stars
Tendrils of her grass extended from the soil
Tickling bare feet and grounding to her heart
Raising my spirit from its faded bed
Adding light, colour and vibrancy
To my renewed waking essence
