Seeing Through Your Smoke

Like tobacco-filled smoke screen lungs
You hide behind this tar of insincerity
Infecting those you lay it on with your haze
Not even realizing that it sticks to you
An overly bright smile that I am sceptical of
A falsely painted on face of pretence
That doesn’t remember the truth from lie
Lines blurred so long, fake has become natural
Pneumonia wheezing squeezes pain from my chest
From the sadness of your incredible pious infection
Made me worldly wiser and woefully mistrusting
I no longer listen with only my auditory ears
But I see you, I feel you and I read the subtleties
Ruefully looking for the gambler’s-tell of dishonesty
My intuition the honesty to your fabricated fables
Slowly having more faith in its detection of your kind
