Constructed by Relationships

You were never the glass blower to my molten lava sand
The defining artist to conclude a united masterpiece of creativity
Once I thought there might be a possibility that we would be forever
But the bowl that held us had fine hairline cracks from the beginning
And the harder we tried the larger they fractured and splintered
Ultimately shattered in a sparkling rain of razor-sharp slicing shards
Shredding dreams and hearts, or maybe just one heart was shredded
In the final breaking of a bond that was never meant to last
No matter how many prayers and wishes on golden twinkling stars
These friendships, relationships and loves return to the earth
If their time is too long in the kiln or too pressured in life
Our connections for a defined period with just enough air in our lungs
To form the right vessel into the lives of one another
For the sculpture that was intended between each other
A futile act to patch the puzzle of fragmented glass back together
Instead I have learned to sweep it into memories of the past
With a stray splinter piercing my foot every now and again
A fleeting journey back and gratitude for its happening
Because the broken glasses beneath my feet and behind me
Have forged the crystal goblet that I now am
Catching raindrops of possibility and making them nectar of the gods
To continuously fuel a beautiful, vibrant and magical life
That I paint in the wonderous hues of the positive shiny prism
Where I bathe in and return to in every wavering moment of difficulty
