Struggle, difficulty and challenge
The constant words to describe life
Ones that I heard as a child and older
I continued the fallacy of life’s flow
Always against that of the river
Upstream, over rapids and sometimes falls
Never a calm sea without a storm
Either tossing us or on the horizon
Always waiting to pelt down on us
These struggles inscribed in parental quotes
That were scattered in the days of my youth
“Money doesn’t grow on trees”
“That is how life is”
“Nothing worth it is easy”
Lies
Lies
Lies
I have only learned the difference since I woke
From the nightmare of inevitable hardship and pain
To beauty, magic and miracles
When I challenge the Universe each day
What wonderful miracles will happen for me today?
Without doubt, derision or scorn
I place these words in the ether with belief
Intention to see their amazing fruition
And as I notice them, minute or bigger
I give gratitude for every single one
For I am blessed by what I believe is possible
And a good and simple life that flows in my direction
Is certainly something that I experience
Since I have changed my view on what happens for me
And not to me
