Pluck the Weeds

Grab hold of the sprout
Now embedded deep
Do you remember its planting?
Do you know where it came from?
This idea, this belief
Rooted steadfast in your life
The lie that you live by
Because somebody said so
And you didn’t know better then
Or how to brush it off
Instead
You carved it into your flesh
Branded yourself with that ‘I AM…’
And just as the scars are fading
And you’ve half-forgotten the weed
A thought occurs out of the mucky soil
You begin to pick at the scab once more
The site of that old wound
Vestiges of the past getting fresh water
To grow robust once more
And dominate this life you’re living
Something you couldn’t let go
It is time to pluck this troublesome overgrowth
Destroy the seeds and release the lies
Plough the fields of your mind and prepare
For new beliefs sown in the bedrock
Of your truth
Feed these thoughts that nourish and support
Allowing the damages to repair and disappear
For the past to dissolve into a distant memory
Fertilizer for the new growth
