Nothing is less affordable
Than a death cling
To mistakes of the past
Yours or another’s
Gifts of lessons to you
Learn and release
Their lingering
Will drain and sap today
You’ll miss the magic
That is the present
Blurred by the haze
Of all those yesterdays
Their toxins will infect
Leaching your health
And your future potential
Do not pay the price
Of living
And reliving
Regrets
Days on replay
To chastise
Would haves
Could haves
Should haves
Instead of praising
The best haves
Done from the knowledge
Of those days
Celebrate
The better wisdom
That you have now
Proof of growth
In an improved place
Don’t spend it wasting
In the over analysis
Of what can’t be changed

I feel every word of this wonderfully written poem. I made all those mistakes in the past. They linger as the demon in my head and inhibit my ability to succeed going forward.

Wise words Debbie. My favourite lines are
“Don’t spend it wasting
In the over analysis” – so true Thanks for joining in 🙂 🙂
