Slipping through our fingers
These uncontrollable sands of time
Minutes lost to the irrelevant
Faster it seems, the older we get
Melancholy of a youth now wrinkled
But pleasant memories persist
Wasted in the pursuit of the frivolous
Unimportant material collections
In proving our character and worth
To the wrong people, the uninterested
Those who seek to find every fault
And no amount of achievement or soul
Will ever come close to satisfy
For they are competing against you
Not building and supporting a life with you
All lessons and roads we must travel
That we may renovate our interior
Improve our internal landscape
To best fulfil our desires and needs
And assist us in accomplishing our purpose
Realizing to accept ourselves
And love our own character
