Waiting to Love Perfect

With only a half wing’s flutter
I never muster the energy
To love you as I probably should
Flit in an uncomfortable avoidance
Of the many reasons I can’t
For I know you see them
Plain as day before your eyes
And yet like the topics of growing up
I dance around them like a butterfly
Except I thunder and boom instead
No grace of a pirouette on light feet
I am not even slightly smitten
As I continue the struggle, the inner battle
Waiting
Waiting
Waiting
For the when to become reality
For the time of the when to be realized
For my when to be now
So that I can be perfect and lovable
So that I may be willing to love myself
