In all the directions I look
I see the echoes of choices
Where I used to see mistakes
For my welfare that was not safe
You can only chastise yourself so much
Until the loathing becomes all consuming
The tails of a thousand floggings
Sting deep below the layers of flesh
Until we learn to release ourselves
From the goal of unattainable perfection
For the concept is one of the mind
Of lies fed to us by an imperfect world
From imperfect people casting shadows
That their imperfections may be missed
But that is not our concern
Here at this place
Wrong, right, good or bad
A fading mist of unrealistic opinion
Our experiences got us to this moment
Taught us what we know today
And it is that we will use
To make a better tomorrow
To make better choices
To be in a better place
