Cinderella sprung from a little girl
A beautiful woman has begun to unfurl
No longer playing at make-up and heels
Her being discovering her perfect ideals
Decisions where once about what to wear
Now what she wants and how to get there
My heart is sore and bursting with pride
For the privilege of sharing this ride
But the terrain is starting to change
Distance between us growing in range
Though she still loves her kiddie cuddles
With onset of maturity the mind fuddles
I hear strains of a confident voice of her own
Mixed with uncertainty of the unknown
To release the hold of a strong guiding hand
And find her feet that allow her to stand
Navigate this path but never fully alone
In her heart is buried our touchstone
Filled to the brim with a respectable love
One that she is most deserving of
And will hold all others to this bright light
And know its shimmering beauty on sight
With a flourished wave of time’s magic wand
Baby no more but to the title adult respond
