Perhaps you wish for a better life in rustic simplicity
But how far would you wish it to go?
No buzz of electricity nor drone of a generator
Water from a well or a river nearby
But perhaps you’d remember
That most are now polluted not fit for drinking
Unless boiled and filtered and even still
Would you be so impetuous
To toss away so-called civilization
For a cabin in the forest with the bears and such?
No indoor ablutions or current standard of dignity
Are you running from the rat-race
Or to a tranquil peace and quiet?
Perhaps you’d prefer a measure in-between
A cottage away from the hustle and bustle
But with full modern amenities
Free from the chores of every day
So that the soul may heal in the silence of birdsong
Running water and fresh mountain air
That you don’t need to climb them or set them as goals
Just enjoy their majestic splendour and beauty
In the sunshine of the day
And twinkling lights of visible stars
And the magical moonbeams
Of natures most wonderful gift

Wonderful Debbie 🙂
My favourite lines –
“A cottage away from the hustle and bustle
But with full modern amenities
Free from the chores of every day
So that the soul may heal in the silence of birdsong
Running water and fresh mountain air”
Which reads like a description of my place 🙂 🙂 thanks for joining in
