Prescribed Rest

Exhaustion of the year turns gibberish of speech
And weary bodies seek resting places
As tiredness is felt deep to the marrow of the bones
Tolerance of company is down low
And appears to be rudeness in its irritability
A quiet place for the recovery of the soul sought
A peg put into the plans of the future this minute
As sleep beckons the worried mind of these recent days
If only to build one’s energy stores up again
For the challenges will rise with the dawn tomorrow
But not insurmountable these difficulties
It is the attitude that is brought to them daily
That allows for their conquering and vanquishing
And sufficient time in silent respite
That contributes to success in the year to come
