In a Spin

Spinning top trundling on the table
Turning this world around and around
Spinning top trundling on the table
Heading close to the fatal edge
Spinning top trundling on the table
Turning my head despairingly about
Searching for the delight of a child’s eyes
At the sight of your playful dance
In myself at the vision of your waltz
But in my seeking I lose my footing
In the landslide of self-discovery
A process to be intensively explored
Fingers running through all the details
Returning to the experiences of childhood
To pick out the joy from the coaching
And learn to release the faulty programming
That has me spinning and trundling
Returning to the same failings repeatedly
To find its origin and set it free
With no blame or ill intent to another
Just gratitude for the progress of moving on
