Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “sharp.” Use it in any or all of its definitions. Have fun!
Tongue of scissors hold thyself
For my gentle heart cannot bare you
Your opinion cuts me to shreds
With words tossed out callously
Sharp blades destroying me
Aiming to be the one in the right
Has no meaning amid the pain
You never thought of what you said
Not ever again
But I…
Play them over and over in my head
For years I have done this
Constantly
I cannot stop
And each time I am stabbed again
The wound deep to my bleeding heart
Pain etched in the crevices of my face
Smile annihilated by something
That you don’t even remember
Which changed by life irreparably
So I ask and beg
Of you
Of everyone
Watch your tongue
Measure your words
If they could ever possibly hurt
Swallow them
Don’t let them out
Don’t destroy another
Don’t do it
If you can’t say anything nice…
And all of that
Abide by it
For it is true

Well said. Words that come out can never be taken back. We having a saying the physical scars can disappear but mental ones remain. Regards

Thank you. Yes, this is true and I wish more people would realize the affect of their words.
Have a beautiful day
