Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “brush.” Use it as a noun, a verb, or an idiom. Have fun!

Locks of hair I brush from your face
Damp with the tears of pain
Heartache worn for all to see
That first love broken in thee
My child, my absolute love
These are the things of growing up
Though I cannot shield you
I am here in the aftermath
To hold and listen to your voice
Words burn to cinder ashes
In the bubbling volcanic turmoil
That feels to eat you up inside
You hear but naught in rushing ears
So I be here just for you in silence
Until you’ve brushed all drops away
And risen slowly once again
To walk among us gingerly
Ne’er the same as before
Protective of your heart as never
You’ll never fall the FIRST again
But you shall succumb once more
When the walls shake and crumble
And another being moves your earth
