Wishing for More Heart

The lines have been thrown away
Discarded in favour of self interest
No shame even at the expense of others
Humanity got lost somewhere
When I see the bone hunger
Deep in your eyes
The food stolen from your mouth
By those who already have
I’m shattered by the existence
Of such suppressed conscience
Or is that fake news again
The facts unknown, uncertain
No relief for the heartache of suffering
Too many personal agendas
Too little transparency
We wade through what we hear and read
No life vest of good old simple honesty
So we dine no longer with only a pinch of salt
Wishing for a light to ease this darkness
For actions of the heart to win out

  1. “The food stolen from your mouth
    By those who already have”

    “Humanity got lost somewhere”

This strikes me as a hard-hitting trutg woven together in a beautiful poetic piece.

The meaning behind it is raw but the words and the way they’re been written is refined.
    A great piece Debbie! ♡
