Don’t Say It

Hidden behind posies that smell of poison
Our lips filtered to the extreme
For the insult of the candid truth
Naked in its offensive honesty
Unaccepted by many
And so we wade into troubled waters
When we sugar-coat everything
Offer our children a fake world
Of equaled accomplishment
With the effort of a sloth
But my mother taught me to be kind
So I shall not say it how it is
Well perhaps then
You should just shut up
For silence is golden
And it too shall bring peace
