Trying to Understand

I carouse with the marrow of sadness
A drunken stupor has me blind
My mind unwrapped in flailing shreds
Tossed in the stormy winds of uncertainty
Lashed on teetering heels of decision
Wobbling and leaning by my reputation
Fear of making a fool of myself
Yet I’m perfecting this art
Dancing steps twisting to stumble
Each time it seems like a terrific tango
I misstep and trip over self-sabotage
The two left feet of my party
Desperately seeking understanding
Of this destructive pattern of shuffle
To find the source of the music
That holds my hand through the muddle
The reason I trip the light into darkness
Continuously diverting myself from the fantastic

  1. Love this one Debbie 🙂
    My favourite passage resonates
“The two left feet of my party
    Desperately seeking understanding
Of this destructive pattern of shuffle
To find the source of the music”
