It’s Not a Bouncing Ball

It’s not a bouncing ball
This fragile heart of mine
To come back
When you’ve thrown it away

It’s not a bouncing ball
This fragile heart of mine
That you play with like a toy
And leave like a child got bored

It’s not a bouncing ball
This fragile heart of mine
To be tossed against the wall
Repeatedly

It’s not a bouncing ball
This fragile heart of mine
But thank you
For making it rubber strong

That it bounced back to me
Though tempted to shut it away
I won’t do that to myself
Because I am deserving
Of a respectful kind of love
That will cherish
What you discarded
So easily

It’s not a bouncing ball
This fragile heart of mine
But it is more resilient
Than I gave it credit for
