Missing You

Daily I aimlessly wandered
Down the trail of remembering
Feather-light footsteps tip toeing
Careful not to unearth
Other nuggets of recall
Which would deeply disturb
My slowly settling emotions
To grasp the fading curves of your face
Run my fingers down your jaw
That I may not forget
The raise of your brows
Nor the lift of your lips when you saw me
That I may reprint the vision of you
Etch it into my mind
As my strolls down memory-lane
Reduce in their frequency
And I return to the land of the living
Not wanting to betray you
Guilt creeps in over lapsed recollection
Pauses between reliving our past
Becoming longer, stretching, yawning
But I brace against falling
Accepting this to be
The natural order of things
Never no longer loving you
