No Energy

The air booms with the rattle of a thousand engines
Fuel bleeding unseen clouds into the oxygen supply
To ward off darkness and the fold of another business
Held captive by an insatiable monster of incompetency
A nation on bended knee pleading for immediate action
But the wheels turn slowly, and the dead still drag along
In a country shrivelling from over laden pockets at one end
Empty stomachs succumbing in hospital passages the other
No longer by adjusted past inequality but by current greed
The generators continue to thunder, and the people cry
To vacant platitudes not stemming the demise
