In the shadows she skulks
Just out of sight
Slightly beyond fingertips
Any attempt to touch her
Embrace the beauty
Has her scuttling back
Into the darkest vestiges
Hidden and lost once more
To fears and anxiety
Effort to coax her out anew
With gentle and soft hands
Flittering like a butterfly
Trying not to spook
But the time is up
For this dance of avoidance
I must grab her by both arms
Hold on tight
Though the ride might be bumpy
I have to learn to love myself
